Resolution Update

Status of: Read to Learn: This is going so well I’ve read more books in the past couple of months than I have in the past few years

Status of: Do a monthly budget: Not so good. I’ve come to the realization that this is going to be a work in progress that will be constantly evolving.

Status of: Ask for help: I have been much better at this

Status of: Buying clothes from thrift stores only: My closet had NEVER been FULLER!

Status of: Make craft night at my house a thing: There’s been a lot of weird schedules in our life these days so this has not been a priority.

Status of: Remember to be a pro not an amateur: Pretty good. It’s just so easy to fall back into resistance habits

Making these resolutions seemed like a simple task but honestly they really are changing my life. I knew reading more would have this effect but my thrift store resolution seems to be the one that’s really changing my perspective. I plan on posting more about it later.

What’s (hopefully) happening this year

1. Read to learn…I’ve already started this year. I read “The War of Art” and I’m currently reading “Boundaries.”

2. Do a monthly budget and try

3. Ask for help…this applies to every area of my life

4. Continue to buy clothes from thrift stores only (ends Oct. 5, 2012)

5. Make craft night at my house a thing (tentative date Jan. 29)

6. Remember to be a pro not an amateur (reference to the book “The War of Art)

Well, that’s it. That’s how I’m going to finish January and we’ll see where the year takes us but for now we’re good.

Wait for it…wait for it…almost…

I’m so excited I can’t even put it all into words! Although, I’m still not sure what all my resolutions are going to be yet this year, I will tell you that they’re going to be something to be excited about. I guess you can say that I have already made a resolution that this year’s resolutions are required to have passion.

Little morning monster

Every morning while I’m getting ready, I pretty much let Wyatt get away with whatever he wants as long as he’s not crying or endangering himself.

Its over!

Today was a great day not only did my little guy turn 1! but the fast is over and I got to eat! I had eggs and fruit in the morning. Mexican lunch with Mary, and finished the day with a small supper. I have to tell you this 10 day fast was not my thing. I will admit there were personal insights gained and some weight was lost but overall it was awful. Most people who fast will tell you that after about half way through they started to feel really great, their mind was clearer, and they were even sleeping better…this did not happen for me. Here’s the run down of how I felt:
Day 1: Hit but a train, by far the WORST day
Day 2: Better than Day 1 but starting to miss coffee
Day 3-5: Ok (not good, not bad, just annoyed that I can’t eat)
Day 6: I really missed eating
Day 7: This is the day I was supposed to start feeling so great…nope
Day 8-10: Let’s just get this over with

I did learn that:
I eat when: I’m bored, I’m tired, and sometimes for no reason
When I was counting calories I wasn’t actually counting everything I put in my mouth
I don’t need to eat every meal like it’s my last and there will always be more cookies and cake

So, I’ve decided not to just try to eat healthier but I’ve made some small steps to actually make it happen:
Make a weekly menu (stop last minute “not thought about” meals)
Eat meat only 1-2 times a week

I know that nothing’s perfect but I want to be better, not just for myself but for my whole family.

Early Resolutions

I absolutely LOVE New Year’s! It’s become my favorite holiday because as I’ve gotten older I’ve come to appreciate resolutions. I love the idea that your life can look one way when you go to bed and then when you wake up and it can truly be different. I know that there’s a lot of people against resolutions either because they don’t believe that people can change or because they’re the people who tend to attach guilt to their resolutions. I never attach guilt, there’s no point in making yourself feel bad about trying to be a better person and having a better life.

Since I love resolutions so much I’ve decided that I’m not going to wait until New Year’s, I’m going to make them whenever I want all year. So here’s the start in no particular order 😀

1. Do a 10 fast
-Steve and I are on day 6 and it pretty much sucks. I’ll write more about this experience after it’s over.
2. Only buy clothes from thrift stores for 1 year
-started Oct. 5 2011
